How to connect with your Light, your Soul
EMBRACE THE LIGHT WITHIN
If the sun goes behind the clouds
do you think it’s broken?
or do you trust that it’s still shining?
bright, steady and true
and when the clouds lift
you’ll feel the sunlight once again
Imagine living your life
with the clouds and sun both overhead
the darkness and the light
living together
are you broken when you feel enveloped by darkness?
or can you see that your internal light is still shining?
bright, steady and true
and when you can shift those clouds of darkness
(even a little)
you’ll be able to embrace your light within
and move through life
with joy, laughter and love
Finding your Light
We may have heard of the word soul but for most of us, it is just an idea, not a reality. To make it a reality, our reasonable, rational selves demand proof of its existence. We ask, if the soul is present, then why are we unaware of it, why can’t we see it, touch it or feel it within us?
Our reality is defined by what is “real” for us, which means those things we see and experience for ourselves. Although we are not aware of our subconscious beliefs directly, they feel real because their effect on our thoughts and behaviors are so obvious and powerful. Think back to the last blog- which group did you fall into? Without the awareness of your Light, the way you are in the world is the result of that cloud of beliefs within you which feel like your reality
The focus of this blog is to guide us to connecting with our Light and to feel its realness.
STEP ONE
Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Notice the sound of your breath, the feeling in your nose or mouth as the air moves in and out, the feeling in your chest as it rises and drops. Sit, breathe and notice. As you do this, your body will begin to relax. If you find yourself thinking, which is normal, simply notice that you are thinking and gently bring your attention back to the sensations of breathing in and breathing out.
STEP TWO
To connect with our Light, we remember those moments in our life when we feel truly connected, loved or filled with joy. There are two ways to do this.
Remember such moments: Close your eyes and remember a moment recently, or in your past, in which you felt filled with love or joy or fully alive and connected to your body, or to the world. Is there one memory that pops up for you? For some it can be helpful remembering back to your childhood before we began to cover our Light with protective beliefs. Remember what it felt like to swing high in the air or swoop down the slide. Feel the excitement and joy of being alive or of seeing something momentous for the first time, like snow or the ocean; those moments when we were filled with awe and excitement. Remember back and watch that moment unfolding again.
If you have no memories of such moments: Remember the faces of small children in your neighborhood, in the park, or in a movie or online and notice those moments when they are filled with joy and open to life. Close your eyes and remember those happy faces. You might not have a memory you can pull up but your subconscious memories are still there. With your eyes closed visualize those happy, joyous faces in your mind’s eye.
STEP THREE
Allow yourself the freedom to relax and just be with your memory or see the happy face of the child. Allow yourself to remember deep down inside those feelings you once had, the sensations you felt. You don’t need actual conscious memories. It is enough to visualize other children feeling this way and holding them close to your heart so that your subconscious can begin to remember. Can you feel the smile come to your lips as you visualize these moments? Can you feel your chest and heart opening a little? Can you see the spark of Light within you deep down inside? Maybe you can’t see it, but maybe you can feel it as a warmth, an excitement, some joy. It’s there. It’s there in all of us. We need only to remember what it feels like to be connected to our Light, our soul.
STEP FOUR
You might not be able to see the Light, but there is a part of you that knows it is there, that can feel its presence deep down inside of you. You don’t have to believe in it yet, this is just about allowing ourselves to remember its existence, to remember what it felt like to be connected to it, to remember what it felt like to be one with it. It is this Light, our soul , that is our truth, who we were born to be. These moments of joy, connection and love are moments when you are connected to your soul, when you are living from your soul. These moments are proof that your soul exists within you, that Light exists within you, and that you are more than your Darkness and fear.
When we see our Light and connect with our Light, we are uplifted, whole and complete. Our Light is perfect, and pure. It does not need to change or be different. It is exactly right just the way it is. By seeing our Light, we are seeing that part of ourselves that is enough, that is perfect just the way it is. Instead of going through life thinking we need to change who we are or to fix what is wrong with us, our perspective changes to “when I am in my Light, I am just who I was born to be, I am complete”. Our work is to let go of what is in the way so that we can connect and live more and more to our Light. Today by trying for the first time to imagine our Light, to see our Light, to connect with moments of love, joy and connection, we have taken our first steps on this path to living a life of Light.

We see the world
Wake up
When the sun
Stretches its long
Golden rays
Turning off
The darkness of night
What we forget
Is that although
The moon shows its face
As darkness descends
It also
Is a bright source of light
Cutting through darkness
With its beautiful glow
Lit up by the sun
Millions of miles away
And all of this to say
There is no dark without light
No light without dark
When we become
Aware
Of what we don’t want
It reveals the blessing
Of what we do want
Turning on the light
The awareness
Always casts darkness aside
Diminishing dark thoughts
And choosing the light
Darkness is not bad
It can be a beautiful teacher
Just remember
You need never dwell in darkness
The light switch
Is always at your fingertips
And you can flip the light on
Whenever you choose
You’ll find ultimate joy
When you choose to walk in the light

As constant sources of light
