Your Time To Step Into The Light

LIGHT BLOOMS WITHIN

When you begin
to connect with yourself
feel more connected with others
and embrace your connection
with the Divine
you feel a spark deep within
you sit in silent contemplation
and simply be
feeling the dark recede
slowly but surely
as the light blooms within

Choosing the Light

We are now at a moment of transition, of change from living lives in Darkness to one in Light.  This change is similar to the growth of seeds. Seeds begin their lives in the sun before they drop to the ground.  Over time the seeds get covered with dirt and debris and spend their lives in the dark until the time is right for them to begin to grow.  At that moment, they split open the hard shell that surrounds them and begin to reach up and out until they break through the crust of the earth and into the sunlight. Once in the sun, they begin to grow taller, bigger, they begin to expand and to flower.  In the sunlight, they become very different from who, what and how they were in the Dark. Can you see how you, like the seed, have been waiting for the right time, an invitation, to grow, to change, to transform?  Now is that time.  A time for you to begin to transform from a small closed seed into a plant open to the world, seen by the world.  A plant that is bigger, brighter and more beautiful than the seed ever thought it could possibly be.

Everything begins to change when Light and love are introduced into an otherwise dark life. So what is this love?  Is it love from another person?  Love from yourself for yourself? Love from the Divine for you? For us?  It is all of the above.  It is feeling connected, supported, upheld, loved, cared for and nurtured by the Light.  It is you seeing the Light, the love that resides within you, within your soul.  It is this love in you that inspires the expression of love in others and for others.  This love creates a wellspring of Light that changes the Darkness of all of those that surround you.

Like the seed, you are invited to begin to grow, to change.  One of the first changes to the seed when it begins to germinate is its hard-protective shell splits open to allow the stem and roots to grow up and out. Within this metaphor, what is the hard shell in our lives and how does it try to keep us safe?  The shell is our attachment to staying the same, to seeing ourselves the same way, to defining ourselves the same way, to living our lives in the Dark, to staying in our boxes.  In order for change to occur, the desire to let go and move on has to be greater than our fear of change.

It often feels too dangerous and unsafe to let go of old ways of being.  We crave familiarity and comfort and for most of us, living in our cardboard boxes feels safe and familiar. As we move forward on this journey to connect with our Light and live in our Light, we are afraid of how our boxes will change.  We are afraid of what we will lose, and we are also afraid that the new things we will gain.  Being aware that we will feel afraid of change as we do this work, helps diminish the power of this fear.  After all, fear is just an emotion and seeing it for what it is and understanding why it’s being triggered, often de-fangs it, making it less scary and overwhelming.

So how will you decide?  Most of us stay stuck in place, tolerating the status quo until it becomes too uncomfortable, unpleasant, scary, or overwhelming for us to stay that way anymore.  For change to happen, people have to decide that the risk of change is less terrible than the discomfort and pain of the present situation.  At this moment in history, with so much Darkness, destructive thoughts, behaviors and actions- with so much fear and panic and anxiety, we as a society, a world and as individuals may finally have reached a time when we are ready to change.  The desire to connect with the Love and Light within us is the motivation to let go of living lives filled with fear, anxiety and pain.  Moments in history like this result in some people regressing, becoming more attached to their boxes, becoming Darker and more destructive out of fear of the unknown and fear of life.  More importantly, it is also the moment when many people choose love and  Light rather than fear.  They choose to grow up and out of the Darkness and into the Light, transforming from small seeds living in the Dark dirt into big, beautiful plants thriving above ground in the Light.

What would this feel like?  Close your eyes and imagine feeling worthy, loveable, and loved.  Imagine feeling this deep inside of you.  Imagine not needing others to provide this for you but you are feeling this for yourself because you are seeing and accepting your Light, your soul and seeing its beauty and power.

Imagine being in relationship with others and connecting to them without fear of rejection, loving them without fear of being seen as unlovable.

Imagine knowing that who you are is good, kind, compassionate, loving and finally seeing that those subconscious beliefs which have been accumulated to protect us, are no longer necessary as you choose to connect with the best part of who you are.

Imagine seeing the Light in others and as a result seeing them begin to feel worthy, and good and loveable.  Their Light begins to shine brighter as they begin to see it and connect with it.

You, like the seed when it decides to germinate and reach up to be in the sunlight, are deciding to reach toward the Light of the Divine and with the Light within yourself.  You, like the plant, will expand and flourish in your Light, the Light of the Divine and the Light of others.  You will flower, bringing all that you were born to be out for the world to see.  You will bring joy, Light, love, into your life and into all whose lives you touch.  This is you in the Light, so transformed by the growing, by the changing, that who you are in the end is lighter, brighter and more beautiful than you ever imagined you could be.

AT HOME

Home
your sanctuary
your safety
your own space
to turn inward
to be peaceful
to laugh and play
to be free
to surround yourself
by beauty, love and joy
the feeling
of being at home
is the same
when you step into your light
in your light
you are home

THE MOUNTAIN

You have many mountains in your life.  Big roadblocks that seem immovable...situations, experiences and challenges that seem overwhelming or daunting to climb up and out of.  Some feel insurmountable.  That’s the Darkness swirling at your feet as you walk in thoughts of “I can’t,”  “it’s too much,” or “I can never accomplish that in a million years.”

Instead of sitting in the shadows at the base of your mountain, what if you simply started to climb?  You put one foot in front of the other and focused on simply taking the very next step forward.  And then the next step forward.  And the next.

Pretty soon, you’re going to look up and realize - WOW, I made it to the top.  You’ll look back down the mountain and realize how far you’ve come.  You climbed that mountain. You reached the top.  And by taking action, by staying present in each step forward, you began embracing the Light without even realizing it.  You got up the mountain and not only has your perspective shifted, you’ve changed for the better.

You did it.  It wasn’t too much for you, you reached the top and pushed past  obstacles in your way faster that you imagined. Climbing is growing.  And growing is embracing your Light and starting to live in a whole new way.

So remember, when you have something that feels very heavy going on in your life - as if you find yourself at the foot of yet another mountain  - just take one step forward; and another; and another.  All you need to do is start.

Invitation To Go Deeper

  1. Sit down and make a list of what you desire most to happen as you move towards being in your Light.  For example:

Having a closer relationship with someone you care about

Feeling more confident in who you are.

Feeling less afraid of what others might think of you.

  2. Decorate your list with colored pencils, markers, and stickers.  Make it something you enjoy looking at, something that brings you pleasure.

  3. Now let's make a list of what you are afraid you will miss from being in your Darkness.  For example, one might be:

a.    Fear that you won’t have any excuse to lash out, blame, shut down, feel sorry for yourself, put others down.

b.    Missing feeling that box around you that told you exactly who to be and what to do.

c.     Missing the old familiar ways of being in the world.

Everyone will have many changes they desire and many they are afraid they might lose.  By knowing what’s on your list, there are no surprises.  You can be aware of your fears as well as your goals.  When you feel stuck or overwhelmed with fear, pull out your desire list.  Read through it.  Let it inspire you!  Let it lift you up above your fears and into your Light to help you gain perspective and strength.
